To learn more about building an internet business go to How To Get Started Online For Under $50 to receive your free audio training. Celene Harrelson teaches new Internet entrepreneurs how to get started on the internet and make that first $100 and beyond.
Are you guarding your online reputation?
News travels fast. We all have that one family member that prides themselves on how well they can keep a secret. They promise not to tell every chance they get. In fact, they are so adamant about keeping it on the QT, they make everyone they tell promise not to tell anyone else!
They dig for the [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] dirt and go on fact (or not) finding expeditions just so they can be the first to tell something no one else knows yet. Come on, you know which sister or cousin I'm talking about…
Let's hope no one gives them an android, iPhone or laptop… Yikes, they do have those! That's why you need to be on your best behavior when working online.
First of all, you should always do everything with integrity. If you treat your clients like you would like to be treated, your clients will speak nicely of you and your business will grow with time. You must guard your online reputation. Try to make a fast buck, screw a client over and it's all over Facebook and twitter the same day!
When getting [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] started online, it's easy to fall into the trap of trying to be who you think your clients want you to be, not who we really are. Combine that with the urgent need to make money fast and you come off as [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] a snake oil salesman. And that's not pretty. Negative reviews, bad comments, less than flattering tweets and posts will stick around forever. Just get one, Google your name years from now and see what happens. Yep it's still hanging out in the search engine results.
You must guard your online reputation. Don't do anything that you wouldn't want known all over the world wide web now [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] or in the future. Watch what you say on Facebook, be kind, encourage, inspire. Even if you have a personal page for your friends and family and [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] a business page for your online biz, you still have to behave on your [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] personal page. If not, I promise it will bleed over into your business.
Now that doesn't mean we want you to act like someone you are [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] not. We want you to be authentic. Just treat your online dealings with the same integrity you would if we were customers walking into your [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] brick and mortar business if you [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] had one. We are still people. We still expect good service and respect.
Now let's play point/counterpoint. Gary Vanerchuck [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] is a wildly popular, high profile internet personality that sells a boat load of wine because of his brassy persona. You gotta run for cover when he's around because the F-bombs are exploding all over the place! Why does this work for him and not for others? Mainly because he [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] is so authentic. He is who he is, he's [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] true to his message… and he oozes integrity.
So what's the moral here? Be honest. Be authentic. Be yourself. Always treat everyone with integrity and respect. Stay true to your message. People will love you for it. Your ideal clients will be naturally drawn to you and will buy your products. And those you do not resonate with you will most likely just fade away. If they have something to say to the world about you it won't be that you are a fake or a crook, just that what you had to offer wasn't for them. And that's just fine.
